KINTSUGI OR GOLDEN REPAIR

“Kintsugi is the Japanese art of putting broken pieces back together with gold — built on the idea that in embracing flaws and imperfections, you can create an even stronger, more beautiful piece ot art”

The concrete floor on this retail space was completely scattered in pieces, with some hollow areas. The repair of all the cracks was the most important task on this job, and traditional filling materials will end on too many patches and disruption of the final look.

In the need to find a Perfect Imperfection we came up with Kintsugi: the art of enhancing the imperfections. We started by opening all cracks, and fill each one of them with gold paste. The epoxy solidified all broken pieces allowing for the polishing process to level all pieces and leave a leveled floor with flushed gold lines

FROM DRYWALL TO CONCRETE SLAB

WE CONVERT AN ORDINARY DRYWALL INTO CONCRETE SLABS WITH THE MICROCEMENT APPLICATION, DARK LINES WHERE CREATED TO CREATE DEPTH AND DRILLED HOLES ON THE DRIVEWAY FOR ANCHORS.

CONCRETE DRIVEWAY AND PORCH

For this Beautiful home in Biscayne Park, FL. We build this Concrete driveway in long slabs to maximize the space and allow for a modern U shape parking space. The Porch with stairs and planter designed by Carlos Trumel, were perfectly executed to leave the concrete exposed as the final surface . The main entrance is formed by elongated spaces that incorporates a planter for a green touch among the concrete

SPRAY DECK FOR A POOL AREA AND SERVICE AREA

For this beautiful home we applied a Spray deck over the pool area and service area. The most important part of this job is the preparation of the surface by properly remove all previous surfaces and grind the floor to the bare concrete to than repair cracks and holes and apply the spray deck system consisting of a base coat, top coat and a sealer. The color is an integral part of the mix, creating a durable floor to last for years. To assure the long life of this decorative concrete floor we installed three drains to make sure that water doesn’t accumulate in the surface

POLISHED CONCRETE SLAB FACADE

With Microcement we created this Polished Concrete slabs for the outdoor facade of this home, dimensional lines and anchor holes were created for the Slab Design converting an ordinary stucco wall into a Polished Concrete Slab.

We played with the structural lines, connecting balconies and soffit and customized the size of the slabs by few inches to consider a perfect symmetry of the space as a whole.

HIGH TRAFFIC HALLWAY

THE HALLWAYS ON THIS BUILDING ARE EXPOSED TO WEATHER CONDITIONS, SURROUNDED BY BEAUTIFUL LANDSCAPE IN A HIGH TRAFFIC AREA WHERE DELIVERIES, MUD, AND TRAFFIC OF PEOPLE LEAVES MANY MARKS.

IN ITS ORIGINS IT WAS BROOM FINISH CONCRETE, THAT WITH TIME GAINED THREE LAYERS OF PAINT AND A RESURFACE THAT WITH TIME AND USE ALL PEELED OFF AND WAS IN REALLY BAD SHAPE.

FOR SUCH A HIGH TRAFFIC AREA WE RECOMMENDED TO GO BACK TO ITS ORIGIN AND BRING BACK THE BEAUTY OF THE CONCRETE. WITHOUT PAINT OR SURFACES THAT REQUIRES HIGH MAINTENANCE.

WE STARTED WITH A HEAVY GRIND TO REMOVE ALL THE COATS, REPAIRED THE JOINTS, PATCHED THE BROKEN AREAS AND POLISHED THE CONCRETE TO AN APPROPRIATE PROFILE FOR OUTDOOR USE.

THE RESULT: A BEAUTIFUL MINIMALISTIC LOOK, EASY TO MAINTAIN, CLEAN AND MODERN THAT ENHANCES THE FUTURE LANDSCAPE.

IN HOLLYWOOD, FL, SOME AREAS ARE CONSIDERED AS HISTORIC AND THE CITY REQUIRES THE DRIVEWAYS TO BE DESIGNED TO ABSORB THE RAIN WATER . THE SOLUTION FOR THIS PROJECT WAS CONCRETE SLAB DESIGN WITH INTERLACED GRASS AT 6” THICK, A BEAUTIFUL AND FUNCTIONAL DESIGN THAT AVOIDS DRAIN LINES.
